MOUNTAINTOP MOMENTS Daniel and I left the beaches and headed inward toward the rolling mountains of Mooresville, North Carolina, set on the beautiful Lake Norman. I’m not a racing fan, unless you count Lightning McQueen, but I did learn that many a NASCAR teams and drivers hail Mooresville as home. We had initially planned a portion of our trip to visit the Raleigh/Durham area, along with the three major universities in the vicinity, but we were never able to firm up any connections with local ... A HISTORIC 4TH
A HISTORIC 4TH We left Orlando and headed north. By this point, we had been traveling without the kids for a complete week. We still had several university campuses and cities on our agenda, but for the next few days, we would take a hiatus from that to enjoy the 4th of July holiday in the historic city of Charleston, South Carolina. As we drove around town, we couldn’t help but feel a form of claustrophobia. The campus, however, is beautiful. And the people are so warm and friendly. Daniel and I spent the next few ... The Big Easy
THE BIG EASY We knew we didn’t want to drive straight through from DFW to Gainesville, FL, and since Daniel had never really been to New Orleans, we decided to take a break and hang out for a day. We arrived in time to meet some friends from our seminary days for dinner. We had a great evening catching up! When you book a hotel in NOLA, you never really know what you’ll get. I tried to balance cleanliness/reviews, location, and cost. I booked something that I thought was named after the ... Read More...
