MOUNTAINTOP MOMENTS Daniel and I left the beaches and headed inward toward the rolling mountains of Mooresville, North Carolina, set on the beautiful Lake Norman. I’m not a racing fan, unless you count Lightning McQueen, but I did learn that many a NASCAR teams and drivers hail Mooresville as home. We had initially planned a portion of our trip to visit the Raleigh/Durham area, along with the three major universities in the vicinity, but we were never able to firm up any connections with local ... A HISTORIC 4TH
A HISTORIC 4TH We left Orlando and headed north. By this point, we had been traveling without the kids for a complete week. We still had several university campuses and cities on our agenda, but for the next few days, we would take a hiatus from that to enjoy the 4th of July holiday in the historic city of Charleston, South Carolina. WITH RECKLESS ABANDON
WITH RECKLESS ABANDON Tonight I’m one happy mama. I’ve missed my babies (although really they’re not babies anymore) these last couple weeks. Terribly. I wanted to come back to them sooner. I was wearing my birthday pin and I heard “happy birthday” everywhere we went. These sweet gestures really did make my ... Read More...
GO GATORS!
GO GATORS! Our first impression of Gainesville is that the football stadium is accurately named the Swamp. The moss and plethora of overhanging trees truly provoke the feeling that we are in a swampy place. I have never been anywhere that I considered a match for the PNW in the level of greenery, either. As we drove around town, we couldn’t help but feel a form of claustrophobia. The campus, however, is beautiful. And the people are so warm and friendly. Daniel and I spent the next few ...
